Ultrasonix Introduces a Compact Touch Screen Ultrasound System Designed for Guiding Interventional Procedures

Richmond, BC – May 4, 2011 – Sonix Medical Corporation, a leading developer and manufacturer of premium quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging systems, has introduced a compact touch screen ultrasound system with a large screen and sharp image quality to help clinicians place needles more precisely during interventional procedures.

“Our SonixTablet is unlike any other compact ultrasound system because it has premium image quality and a large touch screen,” said Laurent Pelissier, CEO of Sonix. “It’s designed for small interventional suites and exam rooms where floor space is limited, and for practices that don’t want to compromise image quality for size or price.”

Equipped with a configurable touch screen, SonixTablet is completely customizable to show only the controls that are relevant to the exam at hand. Instead of concentrating on which buttons and controls to adjust, the clinician can focus on the patient and the procedure being performed. The system is ideally suited for precise needle placement during fine needle aspirations, core biopsies, vascular access procedures, nerve blocks and injections.

SonixTablet is built on an open software platform enabling online updates with new software or upgrades with new features. Online remote support improves response time in the event of a technical issue.

To save floor space in cramped exam rooms or interventional suites, SonixTablet has a universal VESA support that is mountable from walls, ceilings or on carts. Weighing only 35 pounds and built with a convenient handle, the system is portable and can also be positioned to work on a flat surface. An optional rolling case helps protect the system when in transport from site to site.

“We use a common software platform for our ultrasound systems and offer our customers regular updates to keep their systems current with the latest technology advancements without having to invest in a new product,” Pelissier added.

SonixTablet has received FDA 510(k) clearance and Health Canada approval. It is available directly through the company’s sales team in North America and France and through a dealer network in the rest of the world.
