Company’s First Showing of Its Expanded Line of Products for Urology
PEABODY, Mass., March 14, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Analogic Corporation (Nasdaq:ALOG), enabling the world’s medical imaging and aviation security technology, will showcase for the first time its entire suite of ultrasound solutions that are Analogic Ultrasound at the 28th Annual European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress in Milan, Italy, March 15-19. The Company’s expanded line of products, including the gold standard BK Medical branded ultrasound systems, the innovative ultrasound systems from Sonix, and the exclusive transducer technology from Sound Technology, address the growing needs of urology imaging from large university medical centers to small clinics and physicians’ offices worldwide.
“Analogic Ultrasound offers clinicians an easier way to maximize ultrasound solutions to meet their daily needs in urologic imaging,” said Lars Shaw, vice president of global marketing. “The BK Medical Flex Focus™ family of systems with Quantum Technology™, triplane imaging for lesion targeting during biopsies, and advanced solution for robotic-assisted surgery provide a new level of precision and access during minimally invasive procedures. In addition, the Sonix branded SonixTouch and SonixTablet systems expand our product portfolio, enabling us to offer physicians a comprehensive suite of sophisticated solutions, particularly for smaller clinics and office-based practices.”
Analogic completed its acquisition of Sonix Medical Corporation in March 2013. Sonix offers a broad portfolio of ultrasound solutions with over 5,000 systems installed worldwide. Analogic Ultrasound includes Sound Technology, a company with over 20 years of experience developing ultrasound transducers to address the most challenging requirements of ultrasound imaging. Analogic acquired Sound Technology in 2002.
“We are very excited to highlight Analogic Ultrasound’s expanded portfolio at the prestigious EAU, as we showcase our market-leading, procedure-driven mobile ultrasound systems and advanced, unique transducer technology,” said Farley Peechatka, senior vice president and general manager of Analogic’s Global Ultrasound Business.
Analogic will highlight the premium performance Flex Focus 800, Flex Focus 500, and the Ultraview 800 ultrasound systems that incorporate Quantum Technology. Quantum Technology offers image quality enhancements including improved contrast resolution, as well as gray scale maps and image pre-sets, making it easier and quicker to obtain the highest quality images. In addition, it incorporates unique Vector Flow Imaging* (VFI) mode, enabling angle independent visualization of blood flow, and an excellent color Doppler mode, enabling superb spatial resolution. Key benefits also include harmonic imaging for imaging extremely difficult-to-image patients.
Analogic’s fully featured, premium performance BK Medical systems are ideally suited for surgery, including robotic-assisted surgery, urology, and general imaging. The Ultraview 800 system also has contrast imaging capabilities**, and both the Flex Focus 800 and UltraView 800 systems have a HistoScanning™† ready option.
The Sonix branded systems offer high-end imaging for busy practices and a suite of features that may potentially reduce procedure times and increase confidence levels. Purchasable options include SonixShine™ needle enhancement and elastography imaging for identifying tissue stiffness, and contrast imaging capabilities.
