Prostate cryotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that freezes and destroys cancerous tissue in the prostate without the use of radiation. Cryotherapy is effective, fast, easy to recover from, and has fewer complications than surgery.
After anesthetizing the patient, needles are inserted into the prostate to freeze and kill diseased tissue such as cancerous cells. Imaging with BK Ultrasound provides a clear map of this process and provides confident needle placement. Ultrasound imaging can also be used after ablative treatment to ensure there is no vascularity and the targeted cells have been destroyed.
